For me, architecture is more than four walls and a ceiling. It has the potential to affect people's lives in powerful direct ways. A well-designed building can inspire awe or create intimacy, or welcome visitors. Creative architecture can tell a story, invoke a history lesson, or present a vision of the future. Every building makes a statement. A skilled architect recognizes this inherent fact and will create not only a functional, attractive structure, but one that reflects the character and vision of its owner.
I've been an architect since 1982, and in private practice since 1990. I’ve designed hundreds of projects including homes, hospitals, medical centers, churches, park facilities, historic home remodels, and office spaces. My practice is built on sharing this philosophy: design projects should be exciting, collaborative and fun.
Architecture is equal measures of creativity, planning and people skills. My expertise in all three set me apart from other architects. I earn client’s trust with a high level of communication. When you give me a wish list for your project, I reflect it back to you to ensure I understand your goals. I use 3D modeling and similar project examples to help everyone visualize designs. I am patient and take time to explain why things are done the way they are. I get on your wavelength and that helps me quickly assess needs and deliver designs that require minimal revisions.
My understanding of construction also sets me apart from other architects. I think like a contractor; there’s a logical reason for everything I do. When contractors review my designs and pose questions, I have answers. I never get stumped because I’ve thought everything through.
This is equally true with projects that must meet municipal codes and historic preservation criteria. I have served on both city council and a historical preservation commission. My expertise in building codes and experience designing public projects and historical renovations allows me to solve problems both technically and aesthetically.
I love what I do. I’ve never wanted to do anything else. When you choose to work with me, you reap the benefits of a lifetime of experience, creativity and passion for beautiful architecture.
